Winter Sports Update

The Northwest District Athletic Board has posted all basketball sites and team placements for the 2015 OHSAA Girls’ Basketball Tournaments.   Throughout each sport season, including basketball, we review our tournament format and have discussions on how to improve the experience for student-athletes.  This upcoming 2015 boys’/girls’ basketball season, we will be making a change using a concept called the “District Seeding Format”. This new format will consist of the sectional sites from the previous year advancing to the same district site (there have been a couple of changes in some sectional and district sites).  However, all teams from both sectionals that lead into the district will be seeded (Ex. 1-12) and the coach may select which of the two sectional sites they would like to be assigned to. The team with the #1 seed will select first and then the #2 seeded team (which will go to the opposite Sectional bracket) will select next and then the rest of the teams (Ex. 3-12) will follow until all teams have been placed on either of the two Sectional brackets.  We will follow up this news brief with more specific guidelines once we post all basketball sites and team placements.

We will continue to use all neutral sites for sectional and district play for the 2015 Boys’/Girls’ OHSAA Basketball Tournament.

Northwest District Athletic Board

The Northwest District Athletic Board (NWDAB) promotes the purposes of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). The NWDAB assists the OHSAA with organizing and conducting interscholastic athletic tournaments throughout Northwest Ohio.  The NWDAB consists of nine (9) members.  The members are classified as AAA (2), AA (2), A (2), with AAA being big schools and A being small schools.  There is also an ethnic minority representative, a female representative and a junior high representative.   The OHSAA also employs a secretary and a treasurer, on a part time basis, to work with the NWDAB. The NWDAB members are voted upon by member schools in Northwest Ohio. For information on Northwest District Athletic policies, procedures and tournament information refer to the Board Member link on the left for contact information.
