NORTHWEST DISTRICT ATHLETIC BOARD

Minutes of Monday, December 15, 2003

University of Findlay – 4 p.m.

President Long called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m. Those in attendance included Mr. Axe, Mr. Snodgrass, Mr. Hanna, and Mr. Richards. Mr. Palmer arrived a few minutes late. Also present were Mr. Morrison and Mr. Krauss.

 

The minutes of the November 17th meeting were unanimously approved on a motion by Hanna/Axe. The financial report and the payment of November bills, as submitted by the treasurer were approved on a motion by SnodgrasslRichards. Mr. Morrison also distributed a complete financial report for all fall tournaments. Deficits were reported in the following sports: Girls Tennis, $3,025.85; Boys and Girls Cross Country, $9,891.45; and Boys and Girls Golf, $5,069.22. Those showing a profit were Volleyball $23,803.25 and Boys and Girls Soccer, $23,030.33. The income from the sale of T-shirts from fall tournaments was $3,255.00.

 

Mr. Hanna, State Board Representative, distributed a concise report of the December meeting of the State Board of Control. Among items discussed was the volleyball format for the 2004 tournaments.

 

Mr. Snodgrass and Mr. Axe, basketball coordinators, will review the use of Lima Senior for Division II boys' basketball in light of the parking situation and also the availability of tournament sites on March 2nd due to the State Primary Elections on this date.

 

Miscellaneous business included:

  1. A meeting will be held on January 5\11 at 6:00 p.m" at Ralphies with wrestling officials secretaries to finalize tournament assignments.
  2. The same procedure will be used for the assignment of umpires for baseball and softball for 2004 tournaments.
  3. Postcards will be sent to all principals directing them to the Northwest Web Site for the Winter Newsletter and other information.
  4. President Long is looking into establishing the winter retreat meeting that is tentatively scheduled for January 17 and 18.
  5. Coordinators of spring sports need to have tentative sites and assignments by the January 7th meeting.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, January 7th at 4:00 p.m. at The University of Findlay. Winter tournament managers will meet at 4:45 with the following Board members: Basketball, Mr. Axe and Mr. Snodgrass; Swimming, Mr. Long; Wrestling, Mr. Richards and Mr. Palmer and Gymnastics, Mr. Hanna.
